DOUBT
The amazing thing about Doubt is that you are never actually given the answer. For those who don’t know, the plot of the movie/ play is that there is a priest who is under suspicion of having “improper relations” with a 12 year old student. However, of the three main characters, one nun believes that the priest is innocent, one does everything in her power to get rid of him because she is convinced (aside from the fact that there is no decisive evidence that he did), and the priest never says one way or another.
I think it is great that the viewers are allowed to make up their own minds and yet the show doesn’t seem incomplete. This is definitely an amazing accomplishment by writer John Patrick Shanley. Something that I find even more interesting, however, is that the audience reaction also seems to rely on the actor who plays the priest role.
