DIRTY SEXY MONEY

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

On December 10, 2008 Billy Baldwin appeared on NBC’s Today Show asking for fans to support the show by watching the show and by visiting the ABC website and sending nice messages of support to the ABC executives. He said the show is not cancelled, but on hiatus until ABC knows how the midseason replacement shows fare. All cast and sets continue to be contracted and on hold for the time being.

This is great news for me, as you may have noticed, I am a huge fan of this show and I think that it’s cancelation is one of the worst ideas in TV history.

DOUBT(ING MYSELF)

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

So basically the thing in Doubt that made me doubt my own standard of morals is a conversation that Meryl Streep’s character has with the mother of the possible victim of the Priest’s assault.

So the mother says that her son is a homosexual. On top of that the boy is the only African America student in a catholic school (remember it’s 1964) and the mother says that the priest is the only person, including the child’s father, who show the boy any kindness.

It was at this point that I thought, “Well maybe it’s not so bad even if the priest did what he’s accused of.” Keep in mind it was only for a second and then I remembered that the boy is 12 and there is no reason that that act would be ok.

DOUBT

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

The amazing thing about Doubt is that you are never actually given the answer. For those who don’t know, the plot of the movie/ play is that there is a priest who is under suspicion of having “improper relations” with a 12 year old student.  However, of the three main characters, one nun believes that the priest is innocent, one does everything in her power to get rid of him because she is convinced (aside from the fact that there is no decisive evidence that he did), and the priest never says one way or another.

I think it is great that the viewers are allowed to make up their own minds and yet the show doesn’t seem incomplete. This is definitely an amazing accomplishment by writer John Patrick Shanley. Something that I find even more interesting, however, is that the audience reaction also seems to rely on the actor who plays the priest role.

When the play opened on Broadway several years ago the role was played by No responses yet

ENCHANTED

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

I love the movie Enchanted, that might sound odd from an adult but I do. But I hate how people have to ruin it with over analyzing.  There are people on the internet who think the movie is perverted because, “made our skin crawl is … he is a cynical 42 year old “been around the block” lawyer (judging on the actor’s age) and she was a naive, sweet, innocent, petite, unkissed, virginal and seemingly much younger female. It doesn’t matter that the actress is 34 (my wife guessed the lower 20’s), mentally she is in the Lolita range.”

Give me a break people it is a Disney Film!

According to E! New’s Kristin Dos Santos the full house remake has been shelved for now. Dos Santos says, “ I’m told there wasn’t enough interest in a House of Tanner women without either of the Olsens (who’d be about as easy to book as series regulars as God).”

Warner Brothers, the studio behind the show, however said that they simply couldn’t come to terms as this time. “It’s completely dead right now,” sorces say. “Still it could happen in the future,” according to that insider.

Whatever the reason for the postponement I hope they change their minds again.

FULL HOUSE

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

In a recent interview, actress Candace Cameron Bure told OK! magazine: “John Stamos has actually been working on a semi-remake of Full House. I know it would involve me and Jodie [Sweetin]…We would revive our characters but today as young women.”

I absolutely loved that show when it aired in the 1980s and early 1990s and have been hoping for a reunion movie for the entire decade now. I know the show was corny but it was also fascinating and with the success of the CW’s new 90210 and plans to re-launch a new version of Melrose Place  I think the timing is right to catch up again with the Tanner family.

Who doesn’t love the Peanuts Classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas?”

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

Think about it, the true meaning of Christmas prevailing over consumerism, it’s a beautiful tale even if it isn’t realistic for kids the age of the peanuts. And that scene when all of his little friends take Charlie Brown’s little Charlie Brown tree and make it beautiful with “a little love” and Snoopy the Beagle’s decorations.

However, just like everything else these days, there are cracks in the foundation of the show. The little tree seems to shed and grow branches as the show goes on even though it has stopped growing and has been cut down.

Go check it out.

PLANET IN PERIL

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

The second installment of the “Planet in Peril” series landed in third place in the adults 25-54 demographic and fourth place in viewers for its 9 p.m.-11 p.m. Thursday premiere, Nielsen Media Research said, s despite strong ratings for the original four-hour series “Planet in Peril,” in October 2007.

“Planet in Peril” averaged 426,000 viewers in the demo to Fox News Channel’s 595,000 and Headline News’ 490,000. “Peril” was only able to best MSNBC’s 380,000 in the demo. But it fell to fourth place with 1 million viewers to Fox News Channel’s 2.7 million, MSNBC’s 1.1 million and Headline News’s 1 million.

But the network didn’t seem upset by the ratings. “The worldwide issues ‘Planet in Peril’ reported on are important ones, and the documentary represents the quality journalism that CNN stands for,” the network said Monday.

Perhaps the rating slump comes from the fact that last year’s edition was promoted and screened for weeks before the actual airdate. Whatever the reason for the slump, I hope the network goes ahead with a part three next year.

GALE HAROLD’S CHRISTMAS WISH

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

The actor best known as Brian Kinney from Queer as Folk has a role he has always wanted to play. “Sam, the Burl Ives role in Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer,” he told AFTERELTON.COM. “What Burl Ives brought to the studio when he was doing those voices… I mean, you think Brian Kinney had an impact? For anyone who grew up in the United States around the same time I was growing up, you’d know that voice, have seen the Christmas special with the stop motion animation. It’s an iconic role. That’s what I’m interested in.”

Although it appears, as long as he could be in the Christmas Special he’d be happy; “Or the ice ape, the ice monster. The Abominable Snow Monster. Or… what was his name, Timmy?”

He explained that Timmy was one of the toys on the Isle of Misfit Toys and AfterElton.com’s fact check team has concluded, perhaps wrongly, that Gale was referring to Charley-in-a-box.

More Idol Updates

Published by tvjunkie50 under Uncategorized Edit This

Okay so I’m not exactly sure what Jason Castro has been up to lately. Since the end of the American Idols Live Tour, the dread headed singer has been mysteriously updating fans by simply saying that he’s working hard on his music. He has, however, released a single of a cover of the holiday classic “White Christmas” with a typical Castro spin on it. It’s available where single are sold.

He should also be teaching his brother the secrets of how to survive on Idol the show as it leaked recently that Michael Castro has made it to the upcoming season’s Hollywood week.
